Remakes, old memes, and taken-from-internet

In the early days of Openmeme, many people will try to claim ownership of memes that aren’t really theirs. They will mint well-known templates as their own, upload classic memes verbatim or with slight changes. We anticipate and welcome this.

We believe that the meme community is super smart and will not fall for this. They simply won’t vote for memes that are clearly stolen and won’t reward their minters with money. After some time, the community will mature and realize that there’s no point in trying to cheat - in effect, the market will regulate itself.
