Meme marketplace

With Openmeme, we combine the proven meme sharing platform concept with the recent phenomenon of an NFT marketplace.

This way, we aim to create a whole ecosystem where the standard behavior of meme platforms users is not only a matter of satisfaction. Now, whether a meme becomes popular or not also determines its tangible value, and how much it can earn its creator or owner on the marketplace.

Common use cases for the marketplace include:

  • Collecting: Users buy memes to simply hold onto them as something to show off, to take part in an exciting new trend, and to show appreciation to meme creators for their work.

  • Long-term investments: Memes can be seen as investments, eg.: discovering a new trend early and buying many memes in this convention, hoping it’ll keep gaining popularity, and finally selling at the peak.

  • Quick profit: Trading can be a way to make quick money, for instance by buying a meme early on in the Waiting list, and selling it for a profit as soon as it reaches the Main Page.

  • Royalty farming: Because of how blockchain trades work, each subsequent trade of an NFT brings royalties to its previous owners. Hence, users can earn by simply having highly traded NFTs pass through their wallets at some point, even without keeping them.

  • Meme “Futures”: investing in a specific meme creator’s index, similar to traditional stocks and crypto indexes.
